a humble herbalist from the countryside, that's all.
Despite her stature standing at 5'9, long, dark grey hair, and striking indigo eyes that seem to glow in dim lighting, Clara seems to be a woman of very few words, who dresses modestly and simply, with her clothes often sporting smearks of soil or stains from concoctions.
When she does speak, looking closely would hint at elongated fangs, though she seems careful so as not to let it show.
confident. intelligent. patient. generous. hospitable. loyal.
quiet. methodical. observant. independent. slow to trust.
judgmental. dishonest. secretive. noncommital.
turning into a bat, some degree of superhuman strength and senses, flawless skin, you know the deal. Clara relies on her superhuman strength especially when tending to her land and doing manual labor.
An inherited ability from her vampiric father, Clara can draw life force away from one living thing to channel into another. It's mostly used for healing others, probably. She can also manipulate life energy to alter her appearance in slight degrees.
Awfully convenient, especially when drawing her own life force out to heal others.
Clara also has the ability to magically command others, albeit with less potency than that of a full vampire's. She'll use it if it's fun.
Not so much a power or ability but a skill she's developed over three and a half centuries, Clara is incredibly knowledgeable about all things flora, and especially their applications in medicine (and un-medicine).
Born to a humble human apothecary and a renowned vampire doctor with healing abilities, Clarabella - or Clara, as she is often called by those who know her true name - is a dhampir whose existence has been deemed unsightly and illegal in the eyes of Vampire Society. While the affair was romantic and genuine in nature, Clara's father had not the strength to leave his station nor courage to live the rest of his life in disdain with a partner whom he would outlive, even urging Clara's mother to be rid of their unborn child.
Magdalena Fontanilla refused, and thus fled the imperial capital of Espirée to raise her child in the countryside, where she hid Clara's existence until she passed of old age, and taught her to act and look a certain way so as not to arouse suspicion from others. She also had the aid of the rebels she hid and sheltered over the remainder of her years, offering her home as a safehouse, having taken up the rebellion's cause with steadfast belief that she could free her former lover from the expectations of the society that tore them asunder.
Growing up as a secret never bothered the young Clarabella, who grew to think of it like a game, and grew to think of the rebels as her family. They taught her about the world outside of their quaint countryside homestead, taught her how to fend for herself, and gave her the best education they could in humble trades.
Before too long, however, her very nature as a dhampir would mean she would vastly outlive her mother. After this, she began to use her awakened vampiric abilities to shift her appearance and identity to remain hidden, while taking up the work that her mother had left, taking on her mantle amongst the rebels as "the haven," while adopting a few new monikers of her own, thanks to her differing approach. Where Magdalena focused on developing recipes and formulas for medicinal uses, Clarabella spent her time developing poisons - especially ones that would be effective against vampires - while honing her ability to manipulate life.
For the most part, though, Clara's life in her countryside homstead is rather quiet. Her days are mostly spent tending to crops and animals, sketching, growing poisonous plants, learning about city life from downtrodden humans, humanely and consensually drawing blood from them...
